SAVE & TRY THIS FAVORITE GYM HACK OF MINE! >>> Swipe for video -
I absolutely love hip thrusts for glute development but sometimes I’m in a rush and don’t have time to load up a barbell and get all situated with a hip pad and back support. Or if you’re back isn’t yet strong enough load/unload a barbell with large heavy plates or even if you’re intimidated to do regular hip thrusts this is a great alternative until you gain confidence!

Sometimes the ideal hip thrust stations at my gym are taken so this is a great hack I’ve incorporated into my arsenal of alternative/modified exercises.

I call it the Machine Modified Hip Thrust. You’ll need to have access to a Lying Leg Curl Machine or a Leg Extension Machine. (I prefer the Leg Curl Machine) But either should work!

You want the leg pad to be situated as low as it can go for best range of motion and notch it’s placement so that it’s sitting perfecting at your hips. -
Feet should be shoulder width apart, toes facing forward, press your heels into the ground as you thrust up as high as you can. Hold for 1-3 seconds, lower to starting position and repeat for all reps.

The weight is easy to increase/decrease for pyramid sets or failure sets. You can also superset it with the regular exercise the machine was intended for (ie: leg curls or leg extensions).

I woke up that first morning and my Husband left to go get our older boys and breakfast and I couldn’t believe anyone would leave me alone with a BABY! 😂🤣😂 I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing...... I did my best and he’s doing just fine ❤️ I don’t think anything can prepare you for having a baby and I’m so excited I get to experience this all over again!

I do know that this time around I need to take better care of myself physically and emotionally. It was so easy for me to get caught up in the preciousness of being a Mommy I lost myself and stopped taking care of myself. It’s so easy to do.... and I’m so grateful to have plans in place that will help me to remember that my health is just as important!! The first photo really helps me with my #hipflexors the trick is you have to have your butt tucked in and under your torso. I usually I keep my hand on my butt cheek to make sure I’m aligned right.
The second picture is the #butterflypose which also is a #hipflexorstretch if you could tell I have some hip problems, but these make a world of a difference!
Lastly, I did a #timelapse of my #yoga #cooldown I find it as a great time to reflect on my #workout and set #goals for next time! 🧘🏼‍♀️🤘🏻

The Barbell Squat and Deadlift are two of my favorite lower body exercises. The deadlift because it really gives me a great stretch in the hamstrings and burn in the glutes. The Barbell Squat is the same only the stretch is greatest in the quads. Here are some benefits of each:⁣

𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬:⁣
1. It’s a compound exercise so not only are you working your hamstrings but also your glutes, quads, abs, chest and shoulders. It is really a good overall body exercise. ⁣
2. Fat Burning.⁣
3. Increased Posture. Deadlifting increases core strength and core stability. This exercise alone targets all of the muscles responsible for posture. ⁣
4. This exercise can also help prevent injuries. ⁣

𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬: ⁣
1. Helps build muscle⁣
2. Increases core strength⁣
3. Increases lower body strength especially in the quads, hamstrings and glutes. ⁣
4. Helps increase fat loss as part of a healthy diet and exercise routine. ⁣

As you can see these are some fantastic exercises that have some really great benefits. They are definitely worth adding to your weekly lower body routine. ⁣

For quite some time, I have taken a break
from any kipping movements or anything overhead. Focusing on strict movements and mobility/ stretching in my shoulders. I still workout 4-5x a week just more mindful of my movements & recovery.

I added some strict pull-ups into my workout thinking I would only be able to do 2 or 3 with the goal of 5-6 lol. It’s good to give your body a rest and come back feeling stronger🙌🏻💪🏼

Dying my hair for the first time was definitely going out of my comfort zone! It also made me think a lot about how much our appearance can affect us💁🏼‍♀️ Some changes can happen in just a couple hours— a new hairstyle 💇🏼‍♀️ new makeup 💄 or a new outfit. But other changes take time and hard work on our part, like seeing physical changes 💪🏼 We can’t expect to see serious changes in our bodies after just one lift, one cardio session, or a week of eating healthy 🍎 These things take time, and understanding that is part of the process! ⁣

1 - Two weeks away from the gym actually had a positive effect on my lifting and flexibility and;

2 - Having all four impacted wisdom teeth removed while you have the flu in order to take less time away from work is actually NOT a very good idea 🙃
